Statistician

Purpose of the Job:

Directly support Ceres Power in the development of its fuel solid oxidecell technology and associated balance of plant. Translate design verification and product validation requirements supplied by product development teams into executable test plans. Derive statistically sound test results from test stand data and report conclusions back to test requestors. Advise the processes of design verification and product validation on best statistical practices and continuous improvement of the quality of test measurement data.

We are looking for a highly-motivated Statistician to join a high-performing, fast paced and expanding test team. You will be directly responsible for turning design verification requirements into executable test plans and deriving and reporting results from test data. You will bring expertise and prior experience to advise on the design of experiments and statistical confidence of test results. The successful candidate for this position will have a keen eye for detail, have strong interpersonal skills and be capable of working under pressure to deliver on time.

 

Recruitment Brief – Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate design verification and product validation requirements supplied by product development teams into executable test plans
  • Collaborate with the Test Operations team during planning and execution of tests to overcome test hardware limitations and resolve data quality issues
  • Apply advanced statistical methods such as design of experiments and hypothesis testing to assess and optimise test plan designs
  • Apply advanced data analysis and machine learning techniques to process test data and derive statistically sound test results
  • Advise the processes of design verification and product validation on best statistical practices and continuous improvement of the quality of test measurement data
  • Collaborate with the Data Analysis team to develop and maintain software tools and databases for test data analysis
  • Communicate test plans and test results to project teams in presentations and reports

ESSENTIAL

DESIRABLE

  • 5 years’ experience in the application of statistical methods in a product development and test environment 
  • Experience in a relevant sector, such as electrochemical products, power generation or automotive  

Education, Training & Skills – Degree, A Levels and professional qualifications including subjects studies

  • BSc or MSc in a quantitative field, such as statistics, mathematics, physics or an engineering discipline
  • MSc or PhD in statistics

Strength, Talents, Abilities & Aptitudes – this section highlights the desired attributes that you will require to successfully deliver in this role

  • Knowledge and experience with a statistical analysis software tool, such as Minitab
  • Experience in Matlab
  • Qualification or demonstrable knowledge in Six Sigma statistical techniques
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
 

  • Knowledge and experience in Python, R and SQL
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and tools
  • Familiarity with methods to quantify and express measurement uncertainty


 

 

This role will be required to work flexible hours which may include occasional weekends.
