Senior/Principal Model Based Systems Engineer
Purpose of the Job:
Ceres
is a world leader in Fuel Cell technology. The SteelCell™ at the core of our
business is unique in terms of robustness and cost compared to traditional SOFC
and SOEC. Partnerships with Bosch, Weichai
Power, Doosan, Honda and Miura have contributed to Ceres becoming a rare high
growth British tech company in SOFC sector. The focus of the Systems team is to
enable the development power generation systems and electroyser systems based
on the SteelCell™, by co-operating with suppliers, OEM partners, and other
functions within Ceres.
This
engineer will optimize the system design and exploit opportunities to maximize
system performance whilst creating value for Ceres’ IP portfolio.
Key Accountabilities:
- Technical
Leadership of projects and work packages, including leading a team of
experienced engineers
- Work
with global partners to understand key drivers, requirements and specifications
for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Systems and Solid Oxide Electrolyser Systems
- Development
of system functional and conceptual architectures to meet customer product
requirements
- Engage
with discipline leads, senior engineers and project management to manage
requirements, interfaces and V&V.
- Facilitate
the use of risk mitigation tools such as FMEAs to track and communicate project
risk
- Develop
and oversee V&V plans for systems and subsystems.
- Manage
and communicate project risk
- Manage
IP by tracking IP space, creating new IP and supporting patent process
- Own
the technical content of the design review packs
- Provide
company-wide tool support for requirements management and MBSE tools
- Ensure
Systems Engineering processes are implemented, maintained and improved in
accordance with organisational needs.
- Set
up and maintain systems/requirements databases and models.
- Development
and training of staff in the application of systems engineering processes and
procedures.
- Provide
plans and estimates for systems engineering activities, tailored to the needs
of each project.
Desirable Knowledge,
Skills and Experience:
- BSc/MSc
or BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or similar
- Systems
background and experience
- Experience
in defining and modelling requirements and system architectures
- Experience
using a commercial requirements management tool (e.g. Cognition Cockpit, DOORS)
and/or SysML tool (e.g. Enterprise Architect)
- Experience
working with SOEC and SOFC
- Fundamental
thermo-fluids knowledge and understanding
- Willingness
to adapt and tailor working practices to suit the demands of the business
- Experience
of development testing, verification and validation.

5 years relevant experience in industry or during PhD.
- Chartered
Engineer or working towards chartership
