Senior Scientist - Novel Anode Development

Purpose of the Job:

This position is suitable for a recognised expert in the SOFC development field. The role will support the development of new intellectual property around novel anode designs. The successful candidate will have a deep technical understanding of the latest SOFC developments particularly with respect to alternative anode materials and the vision to see beyond the state-of-the-art.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Delivering concise and insightful summaries of the latest developments in the field.
  • Working with the development team to generate novel material, structural or process concepts.
  • Working with the prototype manufacturing and testing teams to rapidly develop and screen new concepts.
  • Creating precise, high-quality reports based on statistically sound analyses of the data.
  • Working with the Project Managers to define and track KPI’s.

 

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • A PhD in a relevant field with at least 5 years additional experience ideally including work in an industrial setting.
  • Good project management skills preferred.
  • Understanding of and practised user of 6-sigma statistical tools strongly preferred.
  • Experience in leading complex, problem resolution activities.
  • Excellent communicator: capable of making concise summaries and building and maintaining effective relationships. 

 

Internal and External Relationships

  • Daily contact with team members and Materials team lead.
  • Regular updates with project managers and the Chief Scientific Officer.
  • Working closely with the prototype manufacturing staff.
  • Working closely with the Characterisation team to ensure that structures are properly characterised.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with external experts as necessary.
  • Working with the IP team to codify new inventions.
  • Intermittent contact with the CTO.
